John Kaizan Neptune with AsiaBeat
December 8 & 9 A Master of The Shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo Flute), California born, John Kaizan Neptune, who was awarded the name "Kaizan" ("Sea Mountain") after receiving his Master's certificate from the Tozan School of Shakuhachi in 1977, has through the years, with this unique instrument created a new and dynamic musical sound and feeling which is entirely his own. Acknowledged to be among the top masters of this instrument in Japan, Neptune, has performed and recorded in many countries around the world with many renowned names in the music world such as Robben Ford, Nathan East, Abraham Laboriel, Alex Acuna, Kenny Kirkland and many others. He is also the author of the book SHAKUHACHI, and has performed and recorded in many countries around the world. His second album, BAMBOO, was named Outstanding Record of the Year by the Cultural Affairs Agency of the Japanese Ministry of Education. His albums (21 to date) and concerts throughout Japan, Asia, Australia, America, and Europe have made his original music, from traditional Japanese to contemporary jazz fusion, widely known and loved by people of all ages. Joining forces with Neptune will be Lewis Pragasam's AsiaBeat; having collaborated on many occasions, both recording and performance, since 1982. Neptune and Asiabeat will be performing a repertoire of all original tunes.
